MAC ART CREW
Do you love the Arts and/or wish to make a difference in your community? Then the MAC Art Crew needs you!
The Merced Multicultural Art Center is looking for volunteers to help in all aspects of its operation, from greeting visitors to set up for exhibitions and productions. We are looking for volunteers of all ages (with children under 18 parent’s permission) to help us achieve our goal of inspiring and nurturing the arts in Merced County.
Below is a list of groups being formed and examples of specific tasks asked of each group. You do not need to do all tasks listed in each group in order to volunteer for that group.
Volunteer Groups
Galleries:
Patch and paint walls in preparation for next exhibition
Aid in receiving and return of artwork/objects for exhibitions and any packing/unpacking if necessary
Photographer for exhibitions, events, and programs
Front Desk/Hospitality:
Act as a Customer Service rep for the MAC at the Front Desk and assist patrons as needed, such as directing people throughout building or providing information about the history or exhibitions at the Mac
Answer phones
Upkeep of the flyers at the Front Desk
Aid Administration Staff with any folding/mailings
Data entry
Tech:
Light and sound
Theater setup (risers, chairs, stage, etc.) and takedown
Education:
Provide support to staff on Kids Days, Summer Art Camps, and classes
Act as a Docent/Tour Guide to various groups requesting tours at the MAC
Marketing/Outreach:
Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube)
Update website and community calendars with current exhibitions, events and programming
Advertising and Publicity for exhibitions, events and programming
Act as an Outreach representative of the MAC at outreach opportunities throughout the community
Beautification:
Maintain/update Front and Back Entrances
Paint public areas (halls, classrooms, back lobby, 3rd Floor lobby, etc.)
Special Events:
Receptions (getting supplies, setup, serving, takedown)
Fundraising events (getting supplies, setup, greeting, serving, takedown)
Ticket taker/concessions/usher
MAC BOARD MEMBER
The Merced County Arts Council (MCAC) is always looking for board members who believe in our mission to "nurture and inspire the arts and artists in Merced County, by cultivating a place for creative discovery, community, and dialogue." If you are a person whose experience and involvement in the community would be an asset to the Arts Council, we hope that you will consider becoming a nominee.
We believe that this work has never been more important than it is today. The MCAC Board plays an important role in supporting the many arts and cultural opportunities that the Arts Council and the Multicultural Arts Center provide for the community, and we invite you to become part of our team.
MEETING TIMES:
The MCAC Board of Directors currently meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at 5:30 pm. The time and date are flexible and could be changed to meet the needs of the Board.
TERM:
Three years with a maximum of two consecutive terms.
