Kids and Family Day at the mac
WHEN: Sunday, January 22 from 1pm - 3pm
WHERE: The MAC Main Gallery | 645 W. Main Street, Merced
WHO: Kids and their families!
WHAT: Drop by the MAC on Sunday, January 22 and create aboriginal art!
We will “visit” the country of Australia to learn about aboriginal art. Without a written language for thousands of years, the indigenous people created an art form that was used to communicate their cultural heritage to newer generations. Aboriginal art is based on storytelling. Symbolism is a primary focus; the symbols are often put together to tell a story. Traditional aboriginal dot paintings represent a story, usually about hunting or gathering food. We will learn about some of the symbols found in aboriginal art and create our own dot painting.
Join Miss Lisa in the Main Gallery from 1 to 3 pm. Free for the whole family!
