Offerings

The 3rd floor of the Arts Center hosts a wide variety of instruction and meeting rooms including a mirrored ballet and creative movement space, a "dirty" room for clay creations, a well equipped photography dark room, and other arts education spaces for all ages and skill levels. These spaces may also be rented based on availability.

In six weeks you too can be a stain glass artist…

AT HOME WITH DIANNA, a glass artesian invites you to participate in a beginner (or refresher) stained glass class. Dianna has taught stained glass for many years and operate a fully-functional studio. She is an award-winning artist and has been doing custom work for many years — a truly satisfying hobby and art form.

The purpose of the class is to introduce you to various types of glass, how to cut glass, work with a pattern, use a grinder, copper foil and solder and frame a piece.

A variety of patterns will be provided for sun catchers and fan lamps (which are delightful, yet useful pieces to enhance small corner spaces of your home.) Some seasonal patterns will be available but believe me, once you make your beautiful piece, you will want to display it year-round. Basic, but beautifully colored glass will be provided for your use in your project.

The course will be offered over a 6 week period with classes lasting from 2 hours each Saturday so that you can totally complete a piece and be exposed to all the stages in the development of a finished stained glass piece. More importantly, you will leave the course with a book that is a composite of all the information you will need to continue in stained glass as a hobbyist with tips, terminology and methodology for completing projects that has been compiled from years of Dianna time working with stain glass.

Class Dates Oct 9-Nov 13, 2010 (every Saturday from 10:30am-1pm)

Cost: $300 class fee , $125 in materials
